FOOTBALL KIT DONATION
ABOUT GRASSROOT SOCCER
At the time of our football kit donation. Sub-Saharan Africa accounted for an estimated 69 percent of all HIV-positive persons and 70 percent of all AIDS fatalities at the height of the pandemic. AIDS is still the leading cause of mortality among teenagers today.
Grassroot Soccer (GRS), founded in Zimbabwe in 2002, uses football’s cross-cultural appeal to instil confidence and resilience in young people, empowering them to take charge of their lives and health both on and off the pitch.
The organisation employs football sessions and activity-based social learning to normalise previously stigmatised notions about sexual and reproductive health and rights.
Stats from the logistics challenge
Football for hope centre
Grassroot Soccer Zimbabwe was one of our first football kit donation destinations which was part of the ’20 Centres for 2010′, FIFA’s 2010 World Cup legacy initiative. Kits for the World provided football kits to be used by the hope centre to help aid and engage the youth of the district to take part in the Grassroot Soccer Zimbabwe programs.
Grassroot Soccer Zimbabwe will use the football for hope centre to implement their existing programmes and curriculum, including the SKILLZ programme, which focuses on HIV education. The football for hope centre will also be used as a forum for VCT tournaments and will enable Grassroot Soccer to explore new ways of delivering programmes.
Hosting programmings for out-of-school youth and training courses for in-school children.

” WHEN A FOOTBALL KIT IS GIVEN TO A CHILD/ YOUNG ADULT, WHO LOVES THE GAME WITH A PASSION THE RIPPLE EFFECT OF THAT AND THE POWER FOOTBALL HAS TO INSPIRE IS A POWERFUL COMBINATION.
HOWEVER WHEN EDUCATION AND SOCIAL INCLUSION IS PUT INTO THE MIX THE COMBINATION BECOMES WORLD CHANGING. THE WORK OF KITS FOR THE WORLD PLAYS A SMALL PART …ACTING AS A LINK IN THE CHAIN OF DEVELOPMENT THROUGH FOOTBALL.
THE REAL WORK TAKES PLACE WITH THE DEDICATED MEN AND WOMEN THAT WORK FOR THE CHARITIES WE SUPPORT WITH KIT DONATIONS. IT IS THERE WHERE THE MOST IMPORTANT WORK HAPPENS. WHEN A CHILD/YOUNG ADULT RECEIVES A FOOTBALL KIT DONATION IT HELPS TO KEEP THE MOTIVATIONAL FIRE ALIGHT AND PROVIDES THE CATALYST FOR CHANGE“.

Wherever trees are established, wildlife and other plants are sure to follow, ensuring a healthier ecosystem. Trees provide shelter and food for a variety of birds and small animals. Attracting pollinators which in turn help with vegetable and plant growth used not just for food but also for medicines.
Trees are sometimes called the lungs of the Earth because they absorb pollutants through their leaves. Trees improve water quality, and reduce flooding and erosion.
Trees temper climate. Trees lower air temperatures and humidity; they can also influence wind speed. Evaporation of water from trees, or transpiration, has a cooling effect.
Kits for the World
Kits for the World is committed to help fighting the issue of climate change. To this end not only do we reuse and recycle football kits. We also look for the most sustainable way to transport football kits to our partner projects.
To offset this transaction we also are also looking to partner with charities that can help re-green planting trees and forests which play a crucial role in combating climate change and loss of biodiversity.
Kits for the world are also looking to partner with companies of electric vans to help assist in local collections of kit donations.
