The SITA Cup donation for K4TW.

Cinnamon active Event Management contacted KiTs for the World about the forthcoming SITA UK cup, a national 5-a-Side competition whereby SITA UK would like to donate the football kits from the event to KiTs for the World. The event (the SITA UK Cup2011) is organized for SITA staff as a way to enhance team building within the company, with all levels of SITA staff taking part throughout the day in football games and individual and team challenges.

KiTs for the World welcome the opportunity of an annual donation by SITA UK whereby we can use the donation through our network of frontline charities that use football as a development tool. The Kits will be put to good use to help inspire youngsters, the simple act of donating a football kit has an impact and can make a difference to social issues in the developing world. In the words of a charity we helped recently.

"Many of the children have nothing but the clothes they wear, so giving them a football shirt is a big deal, but it also acts as an incentive to get and stay involved with our activities which have the potential  to change their lives for the long-term. Many thanks to KiTs for the World and to all the clubs who donated the kits - your efforts are hugely appreciated and are making a real difference"

The SITA UK donation is destined for our next project which uses football to provide HIV/AIDS prevention education, care, treatment and support to young people. The project teaches young people how to avoid infection and provides continual support through Health Academies. The project also offers life skills coaching  to help individuals react with confidence and knowledge to the obstacles and dangers that they are subjected to as part of their everyday life.

About SITA UK

SITA UK was established in 1988 and currently employs more than 5,500 people.  We have a proud history of delivering environmentally responsible and innovative waste solutions throughout the UK.
A recycling and resource management company, we deliver solutions to 12 million residents and 40,000 business customers, to help everyone reduce the impact of their waste on the environment.

In 2009, SITA UK managed more than 9 million tonnes of waste, recycling and recovering over 2 million tonnes of this through our network of recycling, composting, energy-from-waste and landfill facilities. We also generated over one million MWh of electricity from our landfill gas and energy-from-waste facilities - enough to power approximately 215,000 homes.

We work with a vision of living in a society where there is no more waste. This vision draws on the concept of the circular economy.
In this model, waste management services are linked with the cycle of production and consumption, as waste is recognised and utilised as a secondary resource in the manufacture of new products - giving waste a ‘second life’.

SITA UK `s Vision

“We want to live in a society where there is no more waste” .

SITA UK`s Purpose

SITA UK's purpose is to protect our environment by putting waste in good use'

K4TW Mission

In a lot of ways the SITA UK`s purpose reflects the core K4TW philosophy of giving a second life to a football kit, part of our core values is to reduce the impact K4TW has on the planet that is why we strive for Win Win Partnerships.

Win Win Partnerships the K4TW concept

Part of our objectives is to link up with companies that already have projects on going in the developing world. Forming a partnership in this way meets a number of Green and CSR objectives here are just a few of the key benefits:

  1. Reduce transport cost for K4TW
  2. The foot print of a kit donation is reduced
  3. Partners also contribute to the success of frontline projects
